Belief – Let It Breathe
I just found out about Belief via Myomi’s Music Blog, and I can’t believe I’ve never heard about him. The DJ/Producer has worked with such artists as Jean Grae, Wordsworth and Murs, and I LOVE his beats. Not only that, I love where his music is coming from, check out this excerpt from the bio on his website:
When you consider hip-hop music’s status as the Cadillac emblem on the grill of global popular culture, it’s easy to forget that the genre also holds a lesser discussed, but no less important distinction: America’s last truly grassroots musical movement. Ordinary working-class people with little to no formal musical training, picking up whatever sound-creating object they can find, afford or put together, and telling the stories of life where they come from, for no reward other than the sound of music and their people’s satisfaction. At least, that’s how it all started. 25 years and billions of dollars later, many rap careers begin – and end – in record label boardrooms. But the rules don’t change. Blowing up is one thing, but staying on top is another. The individuals who last in this rap game are the precious few who built their careers on a foundation of reality: real love and devotion, real relationships formed in the streets, real struggle, real talent, and real vision. With all that in mind, it’s a pleasure to introduce a young, up-and-coming bi-coastal beatsmith/producer who’s been waiting patiently in the wings for his time to shine. And his name says it all: Belief .
Again: Belief – Let It Breathe
